Clicker training is all about letting your dog know when they have been good, so the animal knows that's the exact behaviour that's right or expected of them. For example, if you are teaching your dog to sit, the exact moment he sits down, he needs to know that he has done well. If you are shouting "Good dog!", when the dog hears that, he might change his behaviour, such as standing up again, or lay down on the floor, which he then will think is the right behaviour. Because the "Clicker" has the exact same tone, every single time, your dog will instantly know that he has has done exactly what you wanted him to do.
